My BEAUTY BLOG begins!!

I started posting "beauty tip of the day"s on my facebook and a few friends had mentioned creating a blog. I thought I would give it a try. So here it is. I am going to do my best to keep up on it. Wedding season is on it's way so I will be very busy soon. So here goes nothing!

Exfoliating 101: Exfoliating is the number one thing you should have in your skin care routine. You can wash your face multiple times a day, but if you aren't getting all that dead skin off the surface, you are still going to break out. Exfoliating is alot like sanding a piece of furniture. Think of it this way. If you want a smooth, shiny finish with minimum bumps and imperfections, you would get a smaller grit so that the furniture is polished flawlessly. If you use a larger grit on the furniture, you are going to have scratches and a rough texture. It is the same with your skin! So when you are looking for an exfoliant, the smaller the scrub or "granules" the better! On a microscopic level, these granules are polishing the skin, removing the layers of dead skin evenly. The harsh scrub is scratching off pieces and leavin pieces of dead skin behind.

Stay away from St Ives Apricot Scrub! I know alot of people have used it, myself being guilty of the cheap fix, but you're only making matters worse by doing so. You can fool around with a natural scrub using honey, ground pumice, sugar, ground rice, lemons, essential oils and more! There are tons of recipes all over the internet. If you are looking for a professional exfoliant, my go to is Rhonda Allisons Skin Brightening Scrub or the ever popular Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. There are tons more I can list but don't get me started on the pro stuff!

Another great way to maintain a freshly exfoliated face: As soon as you get out of the shower, take your dry clean towel and rub it against your face. It will free the rest of the dead skin and you will be smooth as a babies bum!

For your body: I suggest a exfoliating body glove and a body brush for your back!! MUST HAVES! Loufahs = meh..
